Media I Consume: TV

There's definitely truth to the rumor that we, Generation Y, are consuming fewer and fewer forms of traditional media.  Not one student in my Entre Marketing class subscribed to a newspaper, according to their lack of hand raising today.  Not one watched broadcast news last night.Lost2_1280x1024

So...just in case you're curious.  The TV I watch:
24 (no brainer)
Lost (though I've never watched it live...always on DVD or Tivo )New episode in 6 days!
The Office (though I usually miss it and download it on iTunes)
Food Network (we have a TV in our kitchen...hooray for college houses)
South Park (only if its a new episode)
Repeat Simpsons and Friends and Scrubs episodes occasionaly

That's about it...and really my primary tv watching comes via DVD (or iTunes)

I know a lot of students who watch the history channel.  A lot of Gray's Anatomy fans.  Family Guy's pretty popular...not much else.

Today I walked in on my roommate watching TRL, the show that was thought to 'define' our generation.  I asked him when the last time he watched TRL was.  He said "like a year or two."  This is my musically inclined friend I spoke about earlier.  I don't think I've watched it since high school._39201561_mtv_logo

So moral of the story, many articles talk about how college kids no longer watch traditional media, or can be reached by traditional advertising.  They're right (except for product placement in 24).
