Think of Red Bull...it's an iconic product...it's THE energy drink. 'Red Bull Gives You Wings' Red Bull has become a staple at college bars, paired with Jager, vodka, and just about anything else. It's the brand that Monster, Rock Star, and the others try to be. Red Bull's done well. I had one today before a midterm exam.
Read recently (though its fairly old news) that they even renovated their London headquarters to add a giant slide instead of stairs. People selling energy drinks should work in a place like this. I'm a fan of the entire organization, even headquarters, fitting the image of the brand. That's good.
Unfortunately, that's not quite the case. The very base level Red Bull marketers drive around in little Red Bull cars and hand out their product at events (or just on the street to random passersby). One of my friends actually does this, and she does it pretty well with an upbeat attitude. I've run into two others though, neither of which portrayed the Red Bull image. They were just handing out drinks. This is your base opportunity...giving away your FREE product...to tell a story, to get our feedback, to hand out pictures of your office with the slide. Nope. Just handing out as many of the Red Bulls as possible, as if to reach some quota.
If the folks handing out the product got to slide down corporate's slide every once in awhile, maybe they'd have a little more 'wings.'
